Our Mission
One of our favorite teachers the Buddha said "if you have a problem, you better sit down and figure it out". In our busy society, most people do not "have the time" or have not been trained to look deeply enough into problems. Most people "think" they have looked into a problem, but instead most have just barely scratched the surface. "Mindfulness", or the "Art of Paying Attention" is looking deeply and going to the root of the problem. In the hustle and bustle of life it is absolutely necessary to get some emptiness, solitude or downtime. Come back to your true self, come back to Stillwater. Stillwater is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. We are presently teaching classes in t’ai chi, mindful movements, qigong and yoga to people struggling with the after effects of substance abuse and addiction. We work with homeless women and children and adolescents at risk. We teach people the importance of keeping their attention in the present moment.
